The Rope Curse 2 - FAQs
What is The Rope Curse 2 about?
The Rope Curse 2 follows Jia-min, a young woman with a sensitivity to the paranormal, who accidentally summons a dangerous spirit called Yi-A-Gu. As suicides ripple through the village, a reluctant exorcist named Huo-ge — haunted by a past battle with a Thai Demon — is drawn back into the fight against supernatural evil.
Who is Yi-A-Gu and why is she dangerous?
Yi-A-Gu is a malevolent spirit rooted in Taiwanese folk belief, associated with the souls of women who died by suicide. In the film, her summoning triggers a deadly wave of suicides across the village, making her one of the most feared supernatural forces in the story — and nearly impossible to control once unleashed.
What happened to Huo-ge five years before the film?
Five years before the events of the film, Huo-ge fought a powerful Thai Demon that left him deeply traumatized and stripped of his will to perform exorcisms. Despite retaining his supernatural abilities, he withdrew from the world of spirit-fighting — until the chaos unleashed by Jia-min forces him to confront his past.
Is The Rope Curse 2 connected to the first film?
Yes, The Rope Curse 2 is a direct sequel to the 2018 Taiwanese horror film The Rope Curse, also directed by Liao Shih-Han. While it builds on the mythology and folk horror traditions established in the original, it introduces new characters and a fresh central conflict, making it accessible even to viewers unfamiliar with the first film.
