The Neighbors - Plot
When the Weavers move to a gated community in New Jersey, they discover that the entire neighborhood is comprised of aliens from the planet Zabvron. But as the Weavers and the aliens face the struggles of everyday life together, they discover that some things -- the ups and downs of marriage, the desire to be a good parent and raise a happy family -- are universal. Intergalactic, even.

The Neighbors - FAQs
What is The Neighbors about?
The Neighbors follows the Weaver family after they move into a New Jersey gated community, only to discover every other resident is an alien from the planet Zabvron. The show blends fish-out-of-water comedy with warm family dynamics as humans and extraterrestrials navigate suburban life together.
Why do the aliens in The Neighbors have sports names?
The Zabvronians adopted the names of famous American athletes — Larry Bird, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Reggie Jackson, Dick Butkus — after first receiving Earth transmissions about sports. It's one of the show's running gags, poking fun at how aliens might misinterpret human culture through the lens of televised athletics.
Who are the main actors in The Neighbors?
The ensemble cast includes Jami Gertz and Lenny Venito as the human Weaver couple, with Simon Templeman and Toks Olagundoye as the alien leaders Larry Bird and Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Clara Mamet, Tim Jo, Ian Patrick, Max Charles, Isabella Crovetti, and Mobin Khan round out the core cast.
Is The Neighbors worth watching?
If you enjoy light, family-friendly sci-fi comedies in the vein of 3rd Rock from the Sun or Resident Alien, The Neighbors delivers plenty of charm. It never takes itself seriously, leaning into absurdist humor and surprisingly sweet moments about parenthood and belonging. A fun, breezy watch for the whole family.
How many seasons does The Neighbors have?
The Neighbors ran for two seasons on ABC, totaling 44 episodes. Season 1 and Season 2 each contained 22 episodes. The series premiered on September 26, 2012, and concluded in 2014 after ABC chose not to renew it for a third season.
Where can you watch The Neighbors?
The Neighbors is available to purchase or rent digitally through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, Google Play Movies, and Fandango At Home. There is currently no subscription streaming service carrying the series, so buying individual episodes or full seasons is the most accessible viewing option.
What shows are similar to The Neighbors?
Fans of The Neighbors tend to enjoy Resident Alien, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for their fish-out-of-water humor. Futurama and Solar Opposites scratch a similar sci-fi comedy itch, while Ted Lasso shares the show's warm, feel-good ensemble spirit.
Who created The Neighbors TV series?
The Neighbors was created by Dan Fogelman, who later went on to create the acclaimed drama This Is Us. He also served as executive producer alongside Chris Koch. The series was produced by ABC Studios and Kapital Entertainment and aired on the ABC network.
