Mobile Suit Victory Gundam - Plot
It is the Universal Century, year 0153. The Zanscare Empire, which rules almost all of Side 2, has declared its independence from the old government, the hollow and corrupt Earth Federation. Under the justification of creating a new, space-based order, it has begun an invasion of Earth; and Point Kasarelia, the illegal residence area in Eastern Europe where Üso Ewin and Shahkti Kareen live, is no exception. As they are caught in the fighting between Zanscare and the opposing resistance organization, the League Militaire, fate draws Üso and his friends into the midst of battle.

Mobile Suit Victory Gundam - FAQs
Is Mobile Suit Victory Gundam suitable for younger viewers?
Mobile Suit Victory Gundam carries a TV-14 rating due to its mature themes, including graphic depictions of death, war violence, and dark psychological content. It is widely considered one of the darkest and most emotionally intense entries in the entire Gundam franchise, making it more appropriate for older teens and adults.
What is Mobile Suit Victory Gundam about?
Set in Universal Century 0153, the series follows Üso Ewin, a young boy living in Eastern Europe who is thrust into a brutal war between the authoritarian Zanscare Empire and the resistance group League Militaire. Themes of found family, the cost of war, and the loss of innocence are central throughout the 51-episode run.
Why is Victory Gundam considered so dark and controversial?
Victory Gundam is notorious for its unflinching portrayal of death, including the deaths of major characters in graphic or sudden ways. Director Yoshiyuki Tomino, who coined the nickname 'Kill 'em All Tomino,' reportedly created the series during a period of personal depression, which heavily influenced the story's relentlessly bleak and tragic tone.

Is Mobile Suit Victory Gundam a good entry point for the franchise?
Victory Gundam is generally not recommended as a first Gundam series due to its heavy reliance on Universal Century lore and its extremely dark tone. Most fans suggest starting with Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) or Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team before approaching Victory Gundam for the best experience.
Who are the main voice actors in Mobile Suit Victory Gundam?
The principal voice cast includes Daisuke Sakaguchi as protagonist Uso Ewin, Yumi Ichihara as Shakti Kareen, Tomoyuki Dan as Cronicle Asher, and Kumiko Watanabe as Katejina Loos. Additional notable performances come from Ayako Shiraishi, Rica Matsumoto, Satomi Korogi, and Konami Yoshida.
