Seiren - Plot

For high school students like Shouichi Kamita, university entrance exams and the future are common concerns. It is also during this time in life that a mysterious emotion that vexes people of all ages may begin to weigh upon one's mind—love. At this point in his teenage years, Shouichi finds three girls he could see himself having a future with: the ever-cheerful Hikari Tsuneki, who teases Shouichi without mercy, but actually has a softer side; the competitive gamer, Tooru Miyamae, who has difficulty communicating with others; and Shouichi's childhood friend, Kyouko Touno, the sometimes immature shoujo manga enthusiast. Seiren follows Shouichi's relationships with these three girls across three separate arcs, as their feelings grow from mutual interest and blossom into something more beautiful.

Seiren - FAQs

Is Seiren a sequel or connected to another anime?

Seiren shares its setting and several background characters with Amagami SS, another romantic anime series. While it isn't a direct sequel, fans of Amagami SS will recognize familiar faces and the same anthology-style structure, where each arc focuses on a different romantic route for the male lead.

What makes Seiren's storytelling format unique?

Rather than following a single linear romance, Seiren is divided into three separate arcs, each exploring a different relationship between protagonist Shouichi Kamita and one of three girls. The arcs reset the timeline, giving each girl her own complete story — a format borrowed from visual novel-style narratives.

Where can you stream Seiren online?

Seiren is available to stream through the Crunchyroll Amazon Channel. Availability may vary depending on your region, so checking your local streaming services is recommended for the most up-to-date viewing options.

Who are the main voice actors in Seiren?

The principal voice cast includes Atsushi Tamaru as protagonist Shouichi Kamita, Ayane Sakura as the lively Hikari Tsuneki, Juri Kimura as childhood friend Kyouko Touno, and Shino Shimoji as the introverted gamer Tooru Miyamae. The supporting cast features Manami Numakura, Takuya Eguchi, and Saki Fujita.

Is Seiren worth watching for romance anime fans?

If you enjoy lighthearted high school romance with a visual novel feel, Seiren delivers exactly that. Its anthology format keeps things fresh, and each heroine has a distinct personality that appeals to different tastes. It's a pleasant, low-stakes watch best suited for fans of the romcom and harem genres.

How many episodes does Seiren have in total?

Seiren consists of 12 episodes across a single season, which aired in Japan in early 2017. The season is divided into three arcs of roughly four episodes each, with each arc dedicated to one of the three female leads and her developing relationship with Shouichi.

What anime are similar to Seiren?

Fans of Seiren tend to enjoy We Never Learn: BOKUBEN, My First Girlfriend Is a Gal, ORESUKI Are you the only one who loves me?, and Rent-a-Girlfriend — all of which blend high school settings with romantic comedy and multiple love interests. Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian is a more recent pick worth exploring.

What content rating does Seiren carry?

Seiren carries a TV-14 rating in the United States, indicating content that may be unsuitable for children under 14. The series includes mild romantic situations and some suggestive humor typical of the high school romcom genre, but remains relatively tame compared to more mature anime titles.
