Why did La Madrastra become such a massive hit in 2005?

The show exceeded all expectations, pulling in ratings above 30 points — a remarkable figure for any primetime telenovela. Much of the credit goes to the electric chemistry between Victoria Ruffo and César Évora, reunited on screen for the first time since 2000, alongside a gripping revenge narrative that kept audiences hooked five nights a week.
