Sergei Selyanov is a Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter and producer. Head of the STV film company, co-founder of the Melnitsa Animation Studio.

In 1972-1975 he studied at the Tula Polytechnic Institute, where he shot films in an amateur studio.

In 1980 graduated from the scriptwriting department of VGIK, in 1989 from the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors.

Shot his debut feature film The Name-Day together with Nikolai Makarov in 1980 (released in 1988). In 1992 organized and headed the STV film company. He is a producer of more than 60 feature and documentary films, including Brother (1997), Of Freaks and Men (1998), Brother 2 (2000), The Cuckoo (2002), It Doesn't Hurt Me (2006), Core of the World (2018), Compartment No. 6 (2021), which were awarded at Russian and International film festivals.
